WATER QUALITY IN YEKATERINBURG IS MUCH BETTER THAN STATE STANDARDS

The Central Laboratory of Vodokanal summarized the results of analysis of 2021. The content of metals and chlorine in cold water (according to certain indicators) is 100 times lower than the current Russian state standards.

Every day, the laboratory conducts 1600-1700 analysis on 50 indicators, including heavy metals and residual chlorine in water. The quality of the supplied cold water is regulated by the sanitary and epidemiological rules and regulations, approved by the Chief Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation.

Thus, the average annual content of iron in the cold water of Yekaterinburg residents is 4 times less than the permissible concentration (actual — 0.07 mg/l, norm — 0.3 mg/l), the plumbum content is 20 times lower (actual — 0.0014 mg/l, norm — 0.03 mg/l), and the concentration of copper was less than 0.01 mg per liter, which is 100 times less than the standard. The chlorination process is also optimized — after all stages of purification, 7 times less chlorine enters the water than required by the standards. However, chlorination effectively removes the microbiological component, parasites and viruses from the water. The content of such dangerous indicators as coliphages, coliform bacteria, Giardia cysts, helminth eggs, hepatitis viruses and rotoviruses in the cold water of Yekaterinburg is stably equal to zero.
